It's a Mojo party!

I've finished making more fun Mojo's. Four are going to my good friend who thinks some people she knows may have lost their Mojo. Well they are going to get it back in the mail! Who wouldn't want to get some Mojo in the mail? The two extra I will put up for sale in my etsy shop, sunnysummers.etsy.com.

For the Love of Books

Who doesn't love books?! I'm not sure I can get on board with electronic books. I like real books with their cool covers and turning the pages. I was just attending my local library annual used book sale and got some great deals. It inspired me to create this little experimental collage on a 12" x 4" canvas that was just waiting for something awesome. I used paper, cheese cloth, a used book, magazines, a candy wrapper for the foil heart and acrylic paint. I really like the texture and colors. I hope you do to.

I've invented Mojo!

I've always wanted to say that I invented something as cool as Mojo and now I have. I think he's sooo cool with his little soul patch. I came up with the idea thanks to my sister Cindy. While visiting her in Wisconsin she said she was expecting a CD in the mail, "Mojo" by Tom Petty. I said wouldn't it be great to get some Mojo in the mail so I decided to create a mailable Mojo. He is handmade by me out of felt, embroidery thread, fur, odds and ends and stuffed, so he's 3D. Oh yeah, he's going to have friends too. Not sure what you can do with him but I'll make more to put on my etsy site, sunnysummers.etsy.com. You might like to know that the official definition (not it's not a made up word) of Mojo (noun) is a magic charm, talisman or spell; magic power. Check back to see more freaks or oddballs soon.

Art show

Last weekend I attended the Greenwood Village Artists show at our local Curtis Center, where I had 3 pieces entered. It was my first time showing fine art since the late 80's. There were quite a few people in attendance. I met an artist whose work I really admire. His name is Christian Dore. You can check out his work at www.christiandore.com. The photo is of me standing in front of my oil painting "Fort Myers". I also showed "Bloom" which I posted earlier this year and the mixed media piece to the left, "Tragically Brief".

New Art!!

It's been a long time since my last post but finally after starting and stopping on several projects I've finished this one. It was inspired by a friend of mine who is in the military and said this was a common saying. I don't know, but maybe there is a lot that sucks that you have no control over. I think that is a common occurrence whether you're in the military or not. I started with a pencil sketch and finished it in Illustrator. I think this would be a great bumper sticker!
